Because geophysical surveys are non-destructive they are often favoured by planning archaeologists as useful tools in assessing the potential of a site, particularly ‘green field’ developments. Archaeology England has several members of staff who are skilled in undertaking surveys of this type. Our range of non-intrusive surveys includes GPS, topographical and metal detector surveys and field-walking, all of which are undertaken by trained staff with experience of the different types of equipment involved.
