Archaeology England / Archaeology Wales currently employs approximately 45 managers, archaeologists and support staff. We have main offices in Llanidloes and Treforest, and satellite offices in Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Swansea & Conwy. Finds and environmental processing, and artefact and ecofact analysis are undertaken in Caerphilly. Personnel and finance are dealt with in Llanidloes.
Our staff have a wide range of skills, varying from project management, finance, personnel and marketing, to those associated with surveying, excavating, the preparation of desk-based studies, and the analysis of artefacts, ecofacts and human remains.

Staff Appraisals are undertaken annually and our Personnel Director is always available if employees have issues they wish to discuss. We assist with the costs of CSCS training/cards and CIfA membership, while our commitment to training includes sending staff on in-house and external courses, participation in conferences and events, and a CIfA approved scheme for Trainee Archaeologists (to PCIfA level).
