If archaeology is believed to be present a local authority may request that a Watching Brief is undertaken as part of a development, either in addition to an excavation or as an alternative to it. In such cases Archaeology England can supply archaeologists with considerable experience in working alongside groundworks contractors, thereby helping to ensure that all relevant planning Conditions are met, but with the least possible disruption to work on site.
